Czech point machines conquer in Malaysia
Electromotive point machines type EP 643 from Czech producer AZD Praha, serving for control and check of railway turnouts, were proven fully competent in far Malaysia. First pieces have been working properly since 2005 with no serious faults. Therefore the Malaysian State Railways (KTMB) made an order for other equipment of the same type.
„The major issue, we were facing in Malaysia from the beginning, were difficult climatic conditions, primarily high humidity. In addition there is a different public mains network from the one we are used in the Europe“, says the Commercial Export Director of AŽD Praha, Ing. Petr Žatecký and ads: „With the last delivery we were forced to provide single solution for turnouts from three different manufacturers. Fortunately, we have succeeded!“
Present supply of 18 electromotive point machines is now being installed in the railway station Kuala Lumpur. After completion and putting the equipment into operation, 53 point machines from AŽD Praha amounting in total almost 8.5 millions of CZK will be in regular operation in Malaysia.
