"LIVING STATIONS" PROJECT
Project of „Living Stations“includes more than sixty stations, which in the due time will become a part of the city infrastructure as respected parts of the City Centres, where people go not only when travelling, but also when they go out to visit cultural events, see some entertainment and enjoy some recreation. The selection of stations was based on a number of people passing daily through a railway station. Therefore the list includes the most attractive railway stations as for instance Prague - Holešovice, Prague - Smíchov, Olomouc, Hradec Králové, Pardubice, or just now Havlíčkův Brod, where construction works have already been underway and the partner of this project is AŽD Praha.
The object of „Living Stations“ project of the Czech Railways is higher attractiveness of the key railway stations in co-operation with strategic partners. The way it functions is a proper selection of a partner, which leases the railway station and carries out revitalisation. The final effect is an increase appeal of railway traffic for passengers and possibility of commercial use of railway station space.
On December 8, 2007, AŽD Praha signed an agreement with the Czech Railways regarding use of Havlíčkův Brod Railway Station for 30 (thirty) years. By signing the agreement it also acquired the station building where new commercial capacities (areas) will be developed during revitalisation. These capacities will be offered for lease or to own AŽD Praha activity.
Currently AŽD Praha is involved in several projects within the "Living Station" project. In a meantime some of them are only in a negotiation stage concerning partnership but some of them are being implemented.
