AŽD Praha in Belgrade launched the main railway station control equipment

The upgrade of station interlocking equipment of the main station Belgrade Centrum – Prokop in the Republic of Serbia was completed by the company AŽD Praha in a record time of 420 days. The project was worth 25,8 mil € and the contract with the company AŽD Praha had a value of 4,2 mil €.

The representatives of AŽD Praha together with the ambassadress of the Czech Republic in Belgrade Mrs. Ivana Hlavsová and the economic diplomat Jiří Král attended a ceremonial completion of the first phase of upgrade of the railway station Belgrade – Centrum (Prokop). The station was ceremonially opened by the Prime Minister of Serbia Mr. Aleksander Vučić who also attended the event. The company AŽD Praha, who was the main supplier of modern signalling technology, participated in the first phase of upgrade within the consortium of companies managed by the Serbian company Energoprojekt.

„Part of the project implemented by the company AŽD Praha involved designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, testing and commissioning fully electronic station interlocking equipment ESA 44-SB including exterior components such as electromechanical point machines EP600, electrical heating of points, LED signals of LLA-2 type, axle counters and others. In general there were 42 points on 10 tracks secured,“ says the manager of AŽD Praha Foreign Trade and Marketing Department Petr Žatecký.

The station Belgrade-Centrum (Prokop) is a forty year old project which was supposed to be a solution of upgrade of the railway junction. Its construction with numerous breaks and changes in design has lasted since 1977.

„Our cooperation with the Serbian railways has not certainly ended with this project. The plan is to upgrade approximately 108 kilometers of the line Niš-Dimitrovgrad and supply signalling equipment for the thermal power station TENT where AŽD Praha would also like to participate,“ adds Petr Žatecký.
