As part of the modernisation of the signalling equipment, AŽD installed a fully digital StationSWing ESA 44-HU interlocking system in Hungary, which controls traffic in two railway stations (Szeged-Rendező and Röszke). The delivery also included the integrated line signalling equipment, level crossings, track circuits and the installation of the track side part of the ETCS level L1, which will be activated in the next phase of the project.
Both companies, AŽD and R-KORD, cooperated in Hungary on the development, production and installation of railway signalling. The cooperation included the application of Czech know-how and tools in the production of the final equipment in Hungary, as well as the development of software specifically adapted to Hungarian needs in accordance with the requirements of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV Zrt.).
"We very much appreciate the opportunity to install our technology in Hungary and appreciate the helpful approach of Hungarian State Railways and our local partners from V-Híd Holding. Only through joint efforts have we been able to adapt our digital systems to specific local requirements. We see obtaining the necessary technical approvals for operation in Hungary as an important step towards further opportunities in the region. We accept this milestone with humility and our goal is to convince the Hungarian State Railways that our systems are world-class," says AŽD CEO Zdeněk Chrdle.
